This is the story of a certain wayward bunny, and how he got punished for the sin of causing needless suffering. Lest anybody accuse me of blasphemy, I'd like to point out that this literary style was not uniquely Israelite, and certainly not uniquely dedicated to the worship of God.
The rabbit was in the forest, the bunny jumping mid-trees.
Foofoo picked up mice, the jumper lifted the rodents.
Then he hit them, smote their heads mightily.
Down came Ashera, descended the Canaanite abomination.
“Bunny listen, hark you unclean animal.
Don't pick up the animals, nor lift up the field-mice.
Three times I will warn you, and four must you listen.
Stop doing it, desist or be punished.”

Three times I told you to listen, and four you harked not.
Now you shall be punished, suffer your inequities.
A frog will you be, as in the times of Egypt.
Waterlilies your home, an exile from forests.”
